Winter residents have exclusive use of Studio Fuori for the duration of the residency. Access is 24/7. Artists will receive a reference letter to help with Visa/Funding applications, and we will be there to meet you at the beginning and end of your stay. We also provide the following:

• Studio equipment, including projector, printer, studio lighting, worktables, mats and movement props and basic tools.

• A guide to Berlin, information on galleries and art events, local food and trade contacts.

• Fast wifi

• Central heating

• Full kitchen (fridge, oven, stove, dishwasher) and bathroom with shower.

The building has no direct neighbours, allowing plenty of natural light, quiet surroundings and privacy. The available area includes:

• open plan primary studio (50 sq.m), that can be rearranged according to your needs

• a digital/desk space (25 sq.m)

• full kitchen and bathroom

• bedroom (15 sq.m) for residents who choose on-site accommodation

• common spaces of the Gaswerkssiedlung Berlin, including a cafe and art space, a live music venue, and a large garden.

Studio Fuori is located in former East Berlin, alongside the River Spree. We are a private space within the Gaswerkssiedlung Berlin, a community of over 80 musicians and artists. The site also includes 2 music venues, an art space, a cafe, and a large garden. Across the street you will find access to the river, and the Funkhaus complex, with restaurants, a life drawing school, kayak rental and several concert venues. 

Public transport is by tram M21 - 7 Minutes to Ostkreuz Ringbahn, which is a central junction for all city lines. A nightbus runs on the same route, all night long. There is also plenty of free street parking in front of the building, as well as a Miles car rental station. The studio is on the second floor, and is not wheelchair-accessible.

We welcome all artists with a practice-based approach to their work. We are open to all mediums & processes, and the space is particularly suited to visual artists & writers. We review applications with special attention to your relationship with practice and how a residency at Studio Fuori could support this.

Our space occupies a ‘quiet practice’ area of the Gaswerkssiedlung. Normal working noise is fine, but musicians, performers or those using loud tools may not be suitable for the space.

It is possible to share the residency with one other person, if they are also a practitioner or are involved with your practice. Please note there is only one bed for the accommodation option.

Our studio is equipped for small exhibitions and intimate gatherings. We are excited to make space for conversation and sharing between practitioners.

We can help you organise an exhibition of your work at the end of your residency, along with a dinner and time for conversation. You are welcome to invite people you know, as well as artists and others from our local creative network.

Our prices help us to cover the cost of rent, utilities, insurance, cleaning and organisational costs. We do not make profit from our residencies.

• Residency - 1 Person 1500€ 

• Residency - 2 People: 1750€

• Residency with accommodation - 1 or 2 people (shared bed): 2300€

There is a safety deposit of 500€ which will be returned at the end of your residency.

Optional costs such as exhibition organisation, events, or mentorship will be agreed upon prior to the residency.
